African Drumming Village and a Psychedelic Forest

Fire Dancing Drum CircleThis post is written in an informal, personal recollection format. This style may vary from my normal posts and be a bit less organized. Photos are few – I only took a couple, I wanted to be immersed in the moment, vs. viewing things through a lens.

A much needed communion back to nature, where the old concert becomes the new. Where synthesia and a heartbeat of sound enliven the Spirit and remind us we are still human, destined to rise and fall like the sun.

Will Our Educational System Eat Itself , or Evolve?

Things our educational system doesn't teach us

Of the many advances , mostly technological, our world has experienced over the last 100 years, our practicality of education is not among them. More, and more schools are geared towards producing consumers to fit within the corporate culture, heavily burdened with debt before full maturity is even achieved.

College campuses are riddled with credit card offers. Schools are allowing advertising, while cutting tactical life skills classes like shop and home economics. Young adults are graduating from college , unable to secure employment in the way their parents before them did.

A Clear Focus For 2012, Multiple Projects, Shared Rewards

Focus in online business As mentioned in a recent post ,  I’m attempting to balance too many projects at the same time. This led to a series of questions I asked myself and discussed with others, attempting to gain clarity on a clear direction.

The main two questions under discussion were:

1. Is providing ongoing SEO services something I really want to be doing with my spare time?

24 Hours In a Day and Too Many Projects

Too many projects - too little time

Lately, I’ve been feeling overwhelmed with too many projects on my plate. Given my recent well paying and mentally stimulating job, I’ve been a bit unfocused with managing all my projects and the need generate immediate income has lessened.

If a consulting client told me they were trying to run three side projects in addition to a full time job, I’d tell them to slow down and focus. Sometimes, it’s hard to see the big picture when you are drowning in the details everyday.

How I Survived Potential Collapse in December 2011

Light at the end of the path

Recently, things have taken an unexpected and positive turn for the better. During my last progress update in November, I was on my way to Portland, OR and contemplating how I was going to make ends meet upon return. I had enough money for November’s bills, but December was looking very bleak.

Based on verbal agreements, I expected a couple projects with my new web consulting business to keep things afloat and make a go of things on my own. As it turns out,  the couple projects I was banking on didn’t come through….

Portland Oregon – The Land of Grunge & Honey

Portland Chinese Garden Tea HouseWhat better time to visit the Pacific Northwest, than during the fall season of All Hallows Eve? Images of colorful fall leaves underfoot, inhaling crisp autumn air, Victorian houses illuminated by carved pumpkins and the smell of spiced cider in the air….I experienced all this and more in Portland!

For quite some time, I’ve been disenchanted with living in Florida. While this state may be an escapist destination to those who dream of living on the beach, sipping Margaritas and wearing flip flops all year round, the humid and plastic reality is anything but.

The Clock Is Ticking, The Pressure Is On…

Stress - It forges an iron will!

As mentioned in a previous post, I parted ways with a web development company I was with for 2 years last month. After 125+ hours of development time, I just launched my newest project WebTree Consulting. A company specializing in eCommerce consulting, ethical SEO, paid search management, conversion rate optimization and more.

As it stands today, I have enough money for November’s bills, but I need to generate cash for December, or I’m running on empty. In defiance of the traditional victim mindset, I am not pursuing that traditional “oh shit” , guess I should start looking for another job now routine.
